Bruce Frick has been the owner/operator of Harlan’s BBQ & Catering, LLC since purchasing the business in September of 1984.
Mr. Frick has been in the food service business since he was 14, starting by working with his father at the former Ingall’s Restaurant in Bluffton, Ohio. After graduating, he accepted a position at the Milano Club in Lima, and eventually served as Head Chef there for 8 years.
When the opportunity to acquire the then seasonal Harlan’s Barbecue & Catering came along, Bruce felt that he could bring his expertise to the barbecue business and turn it into a full-time catering venture. With the help of his wife and two daughters, he has managed to expand Harlan’s into the full-time, year round business he envisioned. It has always been important to Bruce to keep the business small enough to maintain a family atmosphere in the workplace. His parents, brothers, and sister have been part of the Harlan’s team, and his mother, father-in-law, son-in-law, and grandson Hudson have also been a part of the staff through the years.
Barbecue Chicken is still Harlan’s BBQ specialty, but Bruce has added Prime Rib, Carved Ham, Shrimp, Ribs and just about every side dish you could imagine to the menu. Bruce is always eager to accommodate a customer’s special request by creating a custom menu or unique dish for your special occasion.
